notes:
I used battery-power for Nak 550 transfer to eliminate all hum and ground loops
title info above is all that exists on my original cassette liner notes
pedal steel convention was an annual event in St Louis in 1976 when I went there
there are some track cuts and a few SBD cuts, dropouts and level shifts
some recordings I paused on-the-fly
other times I left tape rolling a little bit
abrupt cuts are cleaned up and cross-faded
tracks are normalized to improve audio level continuity
track changes are seamless

enjoy this beautiful American-heritage treasure
immacculate dynamic range and analog sound -- produced in studio quality

interesting...for me, a little pedal steel goes a long way...I can't believe how many well known songs are titled unlisted...for instance, track 3 is Johnny Nash' "I Can See Clearly Now"

Jerry last played pedal steel with the Dead at one of the Dylan/Dead shows in July '87 - he used it on I'll Be Your Baby Tonight in some shows.

If you're looking for Dead-only, then the last time would be the 4-14-72 Looks Like Rain.

Scotty’s 38th Annual
International Steel Guitar Convention
September 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th 2009

2009 schedule

Anybody notice some of the SideMen playing here? How about kudos to some unnamed players? -- guitarist(s), bassist(s), and -- wow -- great drumming. Cymbals test -- Track 9, 11, 12, 16, 17, 18? Brushes test -- Track 13, 19, 23? I'm thinking the SoundMen were Nashville's finest, along with the players. They were proud as peacocks to give me the SBD patch when I asked. I had a great setup. Thank you for some really great playing. It sounds like that might be Johnny Gimble on fiddle, at least some of it.
